If you owe back taxes to the Internal Revenue Service there are three basic programs available in which IRS will close your case off the IRS enforcement computer.

After IRS receives your detailed financial statement including pay stubs, copies of all expenses, and three months of bank statements, the Internal Revenue Service will apply those against the national, regional, and localized average expenses.

Based on their analysis the Internal Revenue Service will generally ask you for a monthly payment, put you into a hardship or currently not collectible file or may advise you that you’re a suitable and acceptable candidate for offer in compromise.

The offer in compromise is the program or you settle your debt for pennies on the dollar.

However you must be a qualified candidate.
